Tonight's event; The John Ladouceor Championship is named for
the man that started the original IMS back in the Seventies.
John's original track stood about 100 yards south of where the
new track stands. The racing there was legendary; a wide track with lot's of
dirt and many racing lines. This formula made for the most exciting Speedway
Racing in Southern California, according to many. The New IMS has as it's
business plan, to duplicate that track and they did! Brad Oxley of Costa Mesa
Speedway helped build the new track and is interviewed in this video
Inland Motorcycle Speedway ran from the seventies into the
mid-eighties in San Bernardino California. World Champions such as Bruce
Penhall, Sam Ermolenko and Billie Hamill cut their teeth on the small, San
Berdoo oval. Here it is 2009 and IMS is back! This time it's known as Inland
Motorsport Speedway and the promoters are Jason Bonsignore and Shawn
McConnell. Also making a cameo appearance is Larry Huffman, prior voice of Costa
Mesa Speedway. There is a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a lot of great speedway
racing! Bruce Flanders, the track announcer provides the soundtrack for this
video. The PA was not quite dialed-in this first night of racing at IMS, it is
greatly improved in the later shows.
The DVD is a two-disc set, running 110 minutes. We also have a
Blu-Ray disc available of this show.
Tonight's grand re-opening was a huge success with sold-out
grandstands and awesome racing. The more notable riders in attendance were: Josh
Larson, Shawn McConnell, Mike Faria, Bobby Schwartz, Eddie Castro, Dukie
Ermolenko, Buck Blair, Jimmie Fishback Jr. and Shaun Harmatiuk. Most of these
stars are interviewed.
The Pee Wee Main was won by Nicky Reimer, the Youth Main Event
was won by River McDougal, the Third Division Main was won by Tim McGrath and
the Second Division Main was won by Billy Braden.
The winner of tonight's Championship was prior British League
star, Josh Larson, fresh from two years-off from racing. He was followed by:
