This video captures the second night of Speedway racing at the new Inland Motorsport Speedway in San Bernardino California. Tonight's racing is held in remembrance of three budding Speedway Racers that lost their lives pursuing this sport.
Randy Evans, Ernie Roccio and Ken Berry. Ernie Roccio died at a race in England in 1952. Randy Evans was in a crash at Victorville Speedway in 1995 and succombed to those injuries twelve years later in 2007. Ken Berry was involved in a turn-three crash at the old Glen Helen version of IMS in 1988. He died from his injuries. I was there, it didn't even look like a serious accident, so you never can tell.
On the program tonight are many Speedway Stars: Tommy Heddon, Mike Faria, Jimmy Fishback, Dukie Ermolenko, Eddie Castro, Shawn McConnell, Buck Blair, Tyson Burmeister, Neil Facchini and Tim Gomez and many more, all ages.
There is an exciting series of Match Races between old friends and rivals, Tommy Heddon and Mike Faria. Heddon won by a nose.
The Pee Wee Main was won by Jacob Wondolowski, The Youth Main was won by Bradley Wilson, the Third Division Main was won by Burch Waymire, airline pilot and the Second Division Main was won by Josh Abbott.
The Handicap Main was won by young Tim Gomez.
The Scratch Main Event saw young Jason Ramirez win in convincing style. These young riders have a big future in this sport.
