The Northern team held the trophy for this event going-in and kept it again as the North defeated the South by one point! You couldn't ask for a more dramatic ending to a war!
This was an incredibly competitive event! Every one of the riders was going for it! There were many crashes and the win came down to the last race and it too was full of surprises!
The two teams were composed of guys that were teamates on other nights, but tonight bitter enemies. Like the Civil War, brother against brother. Although in this case the two bothers, the Heddons, were on the same saide, the North.
Without a doubt this was the closest night of First Division Speedway racing this season at IMS. You need to see the full-length DVD.
Second and Third Divisons as well as Pee Wee, Youth and Juniors are on the program also. Joey Holt won the Second Division Main again, that's at least three at IMS this season. Ed Lynch, another repeat-winner, won in Third.
Beachball Brown didn't run over anyone and Sugar Daddy DeWayne Stark rides again, despite his injuries from being run-over by the Beachball a couple of weeks ago. Tough guy for 68.
Bobby Heddon returns from years-off due to serious injuryalong with his brother Tommy and is the star of the show! Those Heddon boys can sure wangle a speedwaybike. Jimmy Fishback was on top-form all night and had the win in the bag when his ignition kill-switch engaged itself as he led the "A" Final, causung the South to lose the war. Heart-stopping stuff!
Neil Facchini and Buck Blair rode for the North Team, Faria the South. Devin Defreece and Tim Gomez were the reserves. The reserves got to ride due to all the crashes.
This is the race of the year so-far at IMS!
